Oklahoma Star! at Fort Gibson 2009
Contest Rules The Oklahoma Star! Committee in conjunction with the Fort Gibson PRCA Rodeo is
searching for singing talent for their Oklahoma Star! Fort Gibson contest. Contestants selected through the process
described below will be invited to perform at the Fort Gibson PRCA Rodeo 2009 event performance at 7:30pm and have a chance
to be the 2009 Oklahoma Star! Fort Gibson. You
must be a legal U.S. citizen. You must
be 14 years or older to perform. If a question of age arises an original birth certificate will be required. If you are selected as a top Five (5) contestant for Oklahoma Star! you MUST
certify that you do not have: A contract
for talent representation (for example a talent agent or manager) A music recording contract An acting/modeling contract A
merchandising agreement
A felony
conviction (background checks may be used) All times
referred to in this document are Central Standard Time (CST). Contestants must agree that the decision of the judges and contest officials are final and that they will follow the
instructions or direction of the judges/contest officials throughout the contest. Failure to follow these instructions
will result in IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION. The Oklahoma Star! Fort Gibson 2009 will perform the National Anthem at future
Oklahoma Star! events but NOT be allowed to compete in future Oklahoma Star! Fort Gibson Contests. The Registration & Audition Process There will be PRE-REGISTRATION for the Oklahoma Star! Fort Gibson contest. Registration
will begin via email June 1st, 2009 at 12:00 am. Submit registration information to davidbaileyprorodeo@gmail.com. Prospective contestants should monitor http://www.davidbaileyrodeo.com for the latest contest information.
Initial Processing
of Contestants The FIRST 20 CONTESTANTS
to register per the stated information above will be contacted for further audition information. The date, time, and
location information will be forthcoming. You must be present 30 minutes prior to your audition. Failure to appear
at the appropriate time may result in your disqualification at the discretion of the judges. Public
Stage Audition Each contestant will be
allowed to perform a "signature song" in the public stage audition. This song must have karaoke-type accompaniment
in the form of a CD. It is the responsibility of the contestant to make sure that this CD is accurate, will play in
an audio CD format and is the ONLY song on that CD. NO SINGING OVER AN ARTIST OR LIP-SYNCING WILL BE PERMITTED.
You may have a rendition that has BACK-UP vocals if you desire. ALL PUBLIC STAGE AUDITIONS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED; NO A CAPPELLA PERFORMANCES WILL BE ALLOWED. If any contestant is deemed "unfit" to perform by the judges/contestant
officials they will be disqualified immediately. No person under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs will be allowed
to participate at any time during the contest. Such behavior will result in immediate disqualification with NO recourse.
The decision of the judges/contest officials is final. CONTESTANTS
WILL BE REQUIRED TO STOP THEIR AUDITION AT THE REQUEST OF THE JUDGES/CONTEST OFFICIALS. Failure to do so will result
in immediate disqualification and may be subject to removal by security personnel. Contestants must agree to be audio/video taped or recorded throughout the contest. Such
material becomes the sole property of Oklahoma Star!. These recorded properties may be used at the discretion of the
contest officials. The contestants name, likeness, image and performance become the property of Oklahoma Star! throughout
the contest, without compensation. This period will be extended indefinitely for the semi-finalists. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE CHOSEN TO MOVE
PAST THE INITIAL AUDITION PROCESS. The Voting Process FIVE
(5) CONTESTANTS will be selected upon the conclusion of the initial auditions. They will be invited to perform during
the pre show of the Fort Gibson PRCA Rodeo, Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at approximately 7pm. Contestants are required
to be on site and checked in with music no later then 6:30pm. Not abiding by this time line is subject to disqualification.
Alternate spots will be available.
The TOP TWO (2) contestants will be determined by committee officials. All orders
are by random draw. These contestants will perform during the rodeo performance itself and the winner will be announced immediately
following singing competition. All decisions are final. The (5) Semi-finalist
Requirements Requirements for the top five
(5) semi-finalists is listed below. This list is not complete and may be subject to change. Semi-finalists will be required to sing 2 times at the June 20th performance:
Semi-finalists will be required to have a minimum of 5 songs he/she feels comfortable
performing with karaoke-type accompaniment. Pre-show
and performance song selections will be determined cooperatively between the contestant and contest officials. Semi-finalists will be assigned a handler that will guide them through the Oklahoma
Star! Fort Gibson process. Semi-finalists
will sing from the Arena Floor unless otherwise directed by contest officials. Semi-finalists will be required to follow rehearsal schedules, attend production meetings, make
sound checks, and any other requirements set by the contest officials.
